On the 15th of March, the Samuel Bak Museum invites you to a special guided tour dedicated to the National Remembrance Day for the Rescuers and the Rescued.
During this commemorative tour, we will reflect on Samuel Bak’s childhood rescue story and the individuals who risked their lives to save him. Through his art and personal story, we will explore themes of courage, moral choice, and humanity in times of extreme darkness. The tour includes the visit to the Children’s Room and the permanent exhibition. There we will focus on paintings that portray Bak’s survival, his lost childhood, and the quiet heroism of his rescuers. These works speak not only of survival, but of gratitude, memory, and responsibility.

The tour will be presented by our museum educator Alexandra Impris. Here are a few words from her:
"I’m Alexandra, and I‘m originally from Germany. I studied Cultural Anthropology at the University of Vienna, focusing on minority groups throughout history. Jewish history has always been an important part of my studies, which eventually led me to the Vilna Gaon Museum.
Working within the educational program at the Holocaust Exhibition is both meaningful and rewarding. I especially value meeting visitors from around the world, each bringing their own story and connection to Vilnius, Lithuania, and the Holocaust."
