Dive into the past with us as we look at caricatures from the past 200 years that shape antisemitic perceptions today. Discover how these images entrenched harmful stereotypes and normalized prejudice. Explore the fusion of art, propaganda, and bias, gaining a deeper understanding of their impact. Let's reflect together on the impact of these historical depictions.

In this workshop, students will delve into the analysis of historical and contemporary caricatures to identify and understand antisemitic stereotypes. Learning about antisemitism helps students understand the harmful effects of prejudice and discrimination. It fosters empathy and awareness, encouraging them to challenge biases and promote inclusivity.

Working with caricatures depicting stereotypes strengthens critical thinking by challenging students to analyse and interpret complex visual representations in a more nuanced manner. Analysing them in depth helps the students to recognize the underlying messages and intentions behind such images. This process encourages them to question stereotypes, biases, and enhance their ability to think critically about visual media. By discussing and reflecting on these topics’ students develop a deeper understanding of societal issues and intolerance.

Communication skills are enhanced through group discussions and presentations where students share their findings and debate different perspectives. This collaborative environment encourages clear and effective expression of complex ideas. Cultural awareness is a central focus, as students learn about the historical context of antisemitism and its impact on Jewish communities, promoting empathy and respect for cultural diversity. By engaging with these caricatures, students also reflect on the broader implications of stereotypes in society, deepening their understanding of the importance of inclusivity. The workshop ultimately aims to create a more informed, empathetic, and culturally sensitive student body, equipped with the skills to challenge prejudice and promote positive change.
