The public discussion about how does studying the Holocaust influence perceptions of Jewish cultural heritage will be held at the Tolerance Center of The Vilna Gaon State Jewish Museum (Naugarduko str. 10/2, Vilnius) at 17.30 on September 17.

The discussion is taking place in partnership with the National Library of Israel, its training and development program for library, archive and museum professionals working with Jewish heritage materials.

During the event will be discussed the context of the work being done to restore relevance to the rich material held in the libraries, archives, and museums, to create meaningful educational and cultural experiences for the predominantly young and non-Jewish audiences, and to keep up the pace with the technological advancement of the 21st century, the subject of the Holocaust inevitably accompanies every step.

Historians and museologists David Fishman (JTS), Ilja Lempertas, Neringa Latvytė-Gustaitienė (VGSJM), and Kamila Dąbrowska (POLIN) will discuss the prospects they face as studies of the Holocaust deepen the knowledge and understanding of it.

Deputy Director of the Lithuanian Institute of History Dr. Darius Staliūnas will be moderating the discussion.
