MUSEUM TEAM VISITED THE SITE OF THE GREAT SYNAGOGUE OF VILNA |

On July 26, the Museum team visited the site of the Great Synagogue of Vilna, where intensive archaeological research has been taking place for the last three weeks. We truly enjoyed a short guided tour by Israeli archaeologist Dr. Jon Seligman, who showed us bimah (platform for Torah reading), one of the mikvehs (ritual baths), part of the synagogue’s floor and numerous smaller findings that will supplement Museum’s collections. We look forwards to seeing the archaeologists back in Vilnius for further research next year!
