Weekly English-Language Overview Tours (Until 2026 September 29)

What did everyday life look like for Lithuanian Jews? How did traditions, language, learning, art and the rhythm of the city shape Litvak identity?

Every Tuesday, join museum educator Goda Žvirblytė for an English-language overview tour of the Museum of Culture and Identity of Lithuanian Jews. Through authentic objects, personal stories and works of art, the tour explores Litvak everyday life, traditions, language, learning and secular Jewish culture.

The tour concludes at the Rafael Chwoles Museum, where visitors are introduced to the Vilnius-born artist’s life and creative journey.

General guided tour

During this tour, you'll explore all of the museum's exhibition halls. The guide will introduce the main themes of each space and highlight selected artifacts, offering insight into their significance within the broader context of Lithuanian Jewish culture.

Thematic Tour: Introduction to Lithuanian Jewish Culture
This guided tour covers the first and second floors of the exhibition. It presents key aspects of Jewish culture while focusing on the historical and cultural context of Lithuanian Jews. Selected exhibits are discussed in greater depth, covering topics such as language, education, domestic life, politics, shtetl life, and Judaism.

Thematic Tour: Lithuanian Jewish Art
This tour explores the third and fourth floors of the museum and focuses on the secular artistic life of Lithuanian Jews. The guide will delve deeper into selected exhibits related to literature, music, cinema and theater, and visual arts. The tour also includes the Rafael Chwoles Museum with its permanent exhibition, as well as the temporary exhibition space.
