On January 18, the exhibition „Lithuanian Jews behind the Iron Curtain“ was presented in the David Baazov Museum of the History of the Jews of Georgia and Georgian-Jewish relations, located in the country’s capital, Tbilisi. The exhibition, prepared by the Vilna Gaon State Jewish Museum, was opened by the Lithuanian ambassador in Georgia, Giedrius Puodžiūnas, and the head of the Georgia‘s Jewish community, D. Chuchashvili. The greeting words were said by the Georgian Minister of Culture, Minister of Reconciliation and Civic Equality and the Ambassador of the State of Israel. The exhibition, based on historical facts, shows how the Lithuanian Jewish community, which suffered from the repressions already during the early Soviet years, strived to restore itself despite the restrictions of freedom, identity and historical memory.
