This interactive workshop explores the Holocaust in Lithuania through the life and diary of Yitzhak Rudashevsky, a teenage boy who documented his experiences in the Vilnius Ghetto during the Nazi occupation. Through authentic excerpts from his diary, students will gain insight into daily life, fears, hopes, and the realities faced by Jewish youth at that time.
Together, we will explore the exhibition through group tasks and guided reflection, search for answers to key questions, and share our discoveries. Students will also discuss the value and limitations of a personal diary as a historical source. Additionally, the students will have the chance to visit the audiovisual exhibition Malina: The Hiding Place and connect the written text to this interactive place in the museum.
After the workshop, students will better understand the main stages and key aspects of the Holocaust in Lithuania, while deepening their historical knowledge through Yitzhak’s personal story.
