educational event for schoolchildren – a preview of the film "Uncle Chackel"

On 22 September, an educational event for schoolchildren – a preview of the film “Dėdė Chackelis” (Uncle Chackel) (VVGŽM, 1999) took place. In collaboration with the International Commission for the Evaluation of the Crimes by the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes, the documentary “Uncle Chackel” was shown to schoolchildren of senior classes. It tells the life story of the linguist Chackel Lemchen (1904–2001), about the victory of his endurance, dignity and intellect over the genocide, oppression and personal tragedy. Rod Freedman, Lemchen’s Australia-based nephew directed the film.

Ieva Šadzevičienė, the leader of the Centre for Tolerance, introduced the film to the schoolchildren. Ingrida Vilkienė, the coordinator of the educational program of the International Commission for the Evaluation of the Crimes by the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes, spoke about
